PREPPING THE PHONE FOR COLLEGE

If you're a parent launching your student to college, ask your student to prepare their phone with the contact info on all the important resources on their campus before you arrive. These include (but are not limited to) the numbers for the health service, counseling, public safety, their RA, res life, and perhaps the disability office and the dean's office as well. They may never need them, but they will have them at the ready just in case. They will also have them for any friend who may need them as well.
This will also be helpful if you ever get that panicked call from your student, when they are feeling anxious or unnerved about something later on: you can remind them that they have resources available to them to support them, just a phone call (and probably steps) away.
