Most Important Item to Pack for College

If you are sending your child off to college in the next couple of weeks - or if you are headed off yourself - you are probably very busy right now shopping for all the essential items you want to bring with you: brightly colored bedding, fun posters for the walls, maybe even string lights to add some personality.

What do I consider the most important item to bring along? A medicine pack, with the items you’d have in your medicine cabinet. When you get sick, the last thing you feel like doing is going out to a pharmacy to buy medicine. Having it handy makes your life so much easier. You’ll also be the most popular one on your floor, once anyone hears what you’ve so wisely brought with you!

So grab a toiletry bag and fill it with the following:

• a thermometer

• an ice pack

• your favorite decongestant

• an antinausea medication and an antidiarrheal medication

• your favorite pain/fever medication

• an ace bandage/a box of band-aids

• Antibacterial ointment

• Benadryl

• Emergency contraception
